Django Blue Suit

When Jamie Foxx’s title character in the Quentin Tarantino film “Django Unchained” gets his new outfit, he opts for a brilliant blue color that draws laughs from the audience, but also touches upon his character’s desire to display his newfound freedom in a tangible way toward anyone who might question it. Only a free man could wear something so bold. In many ways, this use of color and costume on film reflects similar attitudes about how we as individuals dress in our modern society today. It’s said, “the nail that sticks out gets hammered down” and that mentality often dominates the professional world in terms of attire. Men are often afraid of sticking out and wearing something bold and colorful simply because they won’t look like those around them — and be singled out for it. But being able to wear color and pattern that reflects your true self can be liberating. Maybe your choice won’t be the same blue suit Django chose to wear, but perhaps something a bit outside of your comfort zone that makes you amused and happy to wear it. We recommend these jackets and suits for special events and going out — even some grooms opt for it on their wedding day when they’ll be at the center of attention anyway.
