Mens double breasted suit
Double breasted jackets, tuxedos and suits
While technically more casual than a single breasted suit, most will consider the double breasted suit to be more formal with its peak lapels and the fact it’s rare to see one. While there are many configurations for a double breasted suit, the most common is the 6x2 (six total buttons, two that fasten). We’d recommend going with jetted pockets as flaps will make the fronts look more complex. Also, try a French cuff shirt with banker stripes. For fabrics, nothing beats the classic pinstripe in charcoal or navy.
For something more casual, the double breasted blazer can be a fun alternative. Try patch pockets to make it more casual and consider mother of pearl or brass buttons. Go for bolder blue colors or even a cream hopsack or linen in the summer.
