Huddersfield Fine Worsted fabric
A fabric merchant named after the English city of wool production.
Huddersfield Fine Worsteds traces its roots back to the mid-19th century, when several specialist weaving and finishing firms in Yorkshire—names like Martin Sons, Broadhead & Graves, Learoyd Brothers and others—began building a reputation for fine worsted suiting cloth. Over time these houses were brought together under the Huddersfield Fine Worsteds banner, formally registered in 1920, and went on to create iconic British cloths such as Fresco and Alsport that are still woven in the region today.
Gladson, meanwhile, is the American partner in this story: founded in New York with roots back to the late 1930s and formally established as “Gladson of England” in 1948, it built its business importing English fabrics for the U.S. tailoring trade and later added Italian mills like Vitale Barberis Canonico.
Hall Madden review: We like their Fresco collection of high twist matte fabrics and their ‘California cashmere’ Bamboo collection for white dinner jackets.
