Chino Twill Collection (Denim-like 3x1 twill COL code)

Introduction

Ideal for all casual occasions, whether at the office, during the weekend or while on vacation. We offer two different styles in two different construction method and a multitude of cotton fabrics to choose from, such as twills, broken twills, moleskins and corduroys.

What are chinos exactly? Chinos are often referred to as khakis, after the most popular color of the pant. However, while the two terms are used interchangeably to describe the same type of pant, there are actually some small differences between the two styles that make each pant its own.

History

The word khaki itself comes from the Persian word for dust or earth. It was used to describe the color of the uniform worn by British officers during the colonial rule of India in the mid-19th century. The color itself was developed by Sir Harry Lumsden in 1848. Using a combination of various ingredients, Lumsden created a new shade of brown with a yellowish tinge. The color proved suitable for use as camouflage and helped to keep troops out of danger. Lumsden named the color khaki, inspired by the dry, dusty region of northern India.

The term chinos also has military origins. Designed as part of the British ‘khaki’ uniforms, the name became popular during the Spanish-American War because the pant was produced using a lightweight cotton twill from China. The cut of the pant was more tapered down to save fabric and originally comes with a flat front. The cotton twill trousers became popular after WWII, when a surplus of military clothing and other goods flooded European and American markets.

After the war, many former troops continued their studies attending college or university where they wore their chinos. In the beginning of the 80s and 90s, the chino pant was brought onto the market as an informal pant for Casual Fridays. Over time, the garment grew to become everyday pants and is now being worn both formally and informally.

Hall Madden Chino’s fabrics

Twills

Durable woven cotton qualities provided in a rainbow of different colors. The fabrics are dyed before the stitching and form a diagonal twill weave. This results in a solid colored fabric, which is very comfortable to wear.

Fine twill

A lighter quality than the broken twill, it’s the perfect choice for spring and summer, especially the warmer months. Containing 2% stretch, this fabric is perfect to wear both slim or slightly wider for the cool summer look.

Broken twills

The cotton twill comes with a typical zigzag pattern.

Corduroys

The corduroy is a plain weave and slightly heavier material than the twills we offer; it is known for the rib of the fabric.

Moleskins

A heavy cotton fabric that is woven and sheared to create a soft, suede-like finish on the fabric.

Care instructions: To avoid extreme discoloration, please turn the chinos inside out before washing. Wash them on cold with similar colors. Due to the dyeing techniques of the garment dye and other cotton qualities, the chinos may become lighter after a few washes.
